And a really huge thanks to our wonderful friend, Jelani, or as Christian knows him... Uncle J, for getting out in the water to snap these great photos!

a pretty great day
Yesterday was the perfect day! Well, almost any day spent at the beach is a fantastic day in my book, but hanging out with family and friends made it all that more perfect. We set up our tent, spread out the blankets, and headed to the water. We went to San Souci Beach, which was new territory for us. It was the perfect little spot nestled between the World War I natatorium and a few condos. The water was mellow and even a tad on the chilly side... but quickly felt refreshing under the sun. Christian had a blast splashing and kicking in the water, and fellow beach goers couldn't get enough of this laughing baby riding the SUP.

aloha friday!
As of late I've been feeling quite uninspired to write. Maybe it has something to do with me being completely exhausted... I knew about this lack of sleep thing with a kid, but C'MON! And some of it's because I read all these other GREAT blogs and I feel like my writing just isn't good enough. I don't know why really, just a combination of things, I guess. Life has been really busy. Right now I'm using Christian's nap time to workout (I'm so sick of feeling completely blah), or to nap. Rob and I have just started Insanity... and it's insane. I can't even make it through the warm-up. Truth. But I am determined to lose this baby weight once and for all. Virginia clearly set me back a few pounds. Damn you good Southern food!
I want to write about our amazing time in Virginia, and so many other things, but honestly, I don't know if I will. It just seems overwhelming at the moment to sort through which photos to post, what to write, and what to say. Christian has been sleeping with us in the bed lately because it seems the only way for me to get some rest, but sleep training is on the horizon. But oh that boy. He is keeping us on our toes! And he is just amazing in a million different ways. That is some kind of love right there.
Rob leaves for Japan today for his first IOE (initial operating experience) on the Airbus 330. Christian and I will probably hang out with Mimi at the pool or go to the beach. Since we've just moved I need to find a "new" beach to go to... Rob suggested Kahala beach, so maybe we'll venture out there. Sunday I'd really like to go to church - my tank is definitely low. That is absolutely my fault in my day to day life, because man, I feel like a completely different person when I'm praying constantly, reading the Bible, and am in communion with God. I feel revitalized, and for my faith to be so important to me, you really wouldn't be able to tell, which needs to change.
Anyway, have a wonderful weekend, friends! It's time for my daily Insanity workout while the boy still sleeps!
Aloha!

aloha friday!!
What's kind of funny about this picture is that there are two horses just behind Rob and Christian. Christian could not have cared less about them. He just wanted to pet/grab/kiss/smother/LOVE the cat.
Right now I'm watching Dog the Bounty Hunter (don't you judge me), and it's making me miss Hawaii. Ok, let me explain. They're in Hawaii... and there is the most beautiful sunset going on, the kind I've only ever seen in Hawaii. Don't get me wrong though, I'm loving visiting Virginia, and I am already dreading leaving my Mama. I wish so much she could live in Hawaii and be close to us and a part of Christian's daily life. That without a doubt is the hardest thing about living far away.
Christian is 9 months old today. He is ALL over the place and cannot be stopped. And I refuse to acknowledge that in three short months, he'll be one year old. I can't even. I swear it's like someone has hit the fast forward button on life.
I hope I can write a few posts about our trip out east soon. Unfortunately, I didn't get any "eight month" pictures of Christian. I promise to be a better Mom for month nine.
And oh my word, I had heard this, but didn't know if it was true or not, but seeing it on the show just confirmed it: Dog the Bounty Hunter has his picture and badge/badge number painted on the gate of his house. (Which is in an area/neighborhood called Portlock... which is about ten minutes from our new digs.) He's also filming less that one block from our old apartment in this episode. I guess I should be glad we've moved out of that hood.

Christian walking... with just a little bit of help
We pulled this toy out of storage when we moved to our new place, but Christian didn't mess with it too much. However today... Christian went over to it and pushed it across the living room, totally unprompted. And then he couldn't be stopped!
aloha friday and happy star trek day!
Happy Star Trek Day!! And it's Friday, y'all!
Not that it really matters to me. It could be Tuesday for all I know (or care). Except I know it's Friday because Vampire Diaries came on last night.
Anyway, this week has been fantastic (minus one little incident), mostly because Rob finally came home from Miami, and he's been off all week. He's been letting me take naps and sleep in extra long in the morning while he plays with the little guy. It's been ah-mazing.
And now that the move is complete, it's time for me to get excited about our trip to Virginia! I can't wait to see my Mama and my brother and friends. I miss them like crazy! It's going to be a busy two weeks filled with a mini-vacation to the Outer Banks and our good friends, Brian and Lauren's, wedding. And lots of other fun stuff in between. This time around I am insisting on at least one dinner at Sticky Rice, my favorite hipster sushi restaurant.
Christian is ALL over the place these days. Cruising the furniture, crawling non-stop (now that we have lots more space!), and not giving Baxter one second of peace. "Gentle gentle gentle!!" is the phrase of the day. He's mumbling all kinds of "words," can give a high-five, and is just the sweetest, most loving little person I've ever met. He just melts my heart! And I still need to take his eight month (which now be his eight-and-a-half month) pictures!!
So the "one little incident" is that Christian and I were involved in a tiny little fender bender which resulted in CRM's first trip to the ER. It was 100% just a precaution and is he absolutely, 100% perfectly fine. But oy vey.
This week we also bought Christian a huge bear. Yep, sure did. Fifty-three inches to be exact.
And more of our life according to my iPhone this week!

Have a wonderful weekend!!
